Salon Mexico - Juarez, Mexico

Located directly across the street from the Rio Grande Mall on Avenida 16 de Septiembre, this night club features a large dance floor and world class entertainment on weekend nights, usually a 6-10 piece studio quality band which will play a variety of Mexican dance music. It is frequented primarily by local couples.

The management of Salon Mexico takes great pride in providing a safe, clean, family oriented establishment free of drugs and other undesirable elements. Dance lessons are available on Wednesday nights and might soon be available on Saturdays. Sundays are a special time at Salon Mexico. Domingo Tardiada begins at 3 p.m. The gathering tends to be an older crowd which brings and shares food.

The photo in the foyer was made in 1989. It shows Señor Baca, the owner, and Maria Bonita of the famous Maria Bonita restaurant, strolling across the street in front of Salon Mexico. At least two very popular Spanish language movies were made at Salon Mexico.

Salon Mexico is actually a collection of seven bars. The building is actually much larger than it looks from the street. This is the Luna Azul Bar, located to the left of the main foyer. As you can see, like all of the bars in Salon Mexico, it is clean and elaborately decorated.

Upstairs from the Luna Azul is the Bar Real de Cabas. It is worth noting that on weekend nights, not only does the Main Bar have the world-class bands mentioned above, but many of the smaller bars have live entertainment as well.

This shot was taken from the balcony overlooking the dance floor in the main bar. You can see the band on stage setting up for the night’s performance. The Main Bar seats 900 people in style and comfort. It’s truly a shame it’s not possible to take photos of people enjoying themselves at Salon Mexico, but, in Mexico, as anywhere, one must respect the people’s privacy. You will just have to trust me that Salon Mexico is a happening place on weekend nights.
