Cuauhtemoc Market - Ciudad Juarez, Mexico - Page 1

Tragic Note: This wonderful market was destroyed by fire in late July, 2004. Still, I will leave the pages here since it was an important part of the city’s history.

When you visit the Cuauhtemoc Market you are the latest arrival in a long stream of visitors stretching back into the 1880’s. Located at Vincent Guerrero and Calle Mariscal (just walk south on Avenida Juarez until you get to 16 de Septiembre, then walk towards the cathedral and look for this building), this market should definitely be on your itinerary.
The modern market is inside, thus warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It has two levels of shops and a lower level food court where you can have an inexpensive and delicious lunch. There are also shops on the side of the building and an open air market beside the building. Here are a few pictures taken in January, 2003.

The food mart serves everything from burritos to hamburgers to sea food, and it’s all inexpensive. The ground level shopping floor can be seen above the food mart. There is another shopping level above that one. (Another interesting photo to view at full size.)
