Getting to Ciudad Juarez Mexico

Getting here is as easy as parking your car in downtown El Paso and walking across the Sante Fe Bridge. When you descend from the bridge you will be on Avenida Juarez, a street rich in history, good restaurants, and interesting places to shop. Or you can catch one of the El Paso Trolley Company Border Jumper Trolleys and enjoy a comfortable ride across the border and back to El Paso when you are ready to return.  The city has a large fleet of taxis and a highly efficient bus systemIf properly insured, you can drive into Ciudad Juarez at the Cordova Bridge or Stanton Street Bridge.

There are actually five ports of entry to Ciudad Juarez. To the west of El Paso is the Santa Teresa exit off of I-10, but you would have to drive about 15 miles just to get to Juarez and would then find yourself in an unfamiliar part of the city definitely off of the beaten path for tourists. Ditto for the Zaragosa Bridge, accessed in the eastern portion of El Paso. Perhaps one day the scope of the guide will extend to Zaragosa. for it is also an interesting part of the city. But for now, the JTG is focused on familiar tourist attractions. Your best choices then, are the Cordova Bridge or the Stanton Street bridge if driving (with Mexican insurance, of course) and the Sante Fe Bride if you are going to walk across (probably best in the beginning.) All three are accessed from Central El Paso.

If you wish to purchase liquor or American made cigarretes at one of the duty free stores near the Stanton Street Bridge, click here for more information.

Sante Fe Bridge to Juarez, Mexico
Stanton Street Bridge to Juarez, Mexico
Cordova Bridge to Juarez, Mexico
Sante Fe Bridge
Lots of parking on the U.S. side, hourly or by the day; a one way bridge with cars moving north only; when you descend from the bridge, you will be on Avenida Juarez, the heart of el centro.
Stanton St. Bridge
Walking or driving permitted; however walking is not practical due to a lack of parking facilities on the U.S. side and the fact you are several blocks from el centro upon entering Mexico.
Cordova (Free Bridge)
Walking or driving permitted; however,
walking is not practical due to a lack of parking facilities on the U.S. side and the fact you are several blocks from anything except Chamizal Park upon entering Mexico.
Airfares to El Paso, Texas are quite reasonable from most parts of the U.S.
