These artists belong to a network of 50 artists known as Red de Artezano de la Sierra Tarahumara (Artists Network of Sierra Tarahumara). The Tarahumara were the original inhabitants of the Copper Canyon region in northwestern Mexico and where first encountered by the Western world when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. They are Mexico's largest indigenous group of people, numbering between 50,000-70,000. The artists present on this particular day were Eva Ines Batista, Fernando Riuz, and Gavino Perez.
They had a wide array of interesting items, ranging from native flutes to pottery, to a large number of medicinal herbs.
